The first thing you need to keep in mind is that the investigation process helps determine if the franchise opportunity seems to fit both parties, both you and the franchisor.  If either party comes to the realization that this is not the right match, they simply inform the other party and move on.

Step 1 – Contact Us

Sometimes this is the hardest step.  Contact us by submitting a "Request for Information" form or by contacting us at (718) 643-5627.  We will schedule a time that is convenient for you to begin the investigation process.  Your information is kept confidential.

Step 2 – The Initial Interview

One of our consultants will spend time answering questions, explaining our process, discussing your goals, and collecting information.  You will be asked to complete a Confidential Questionnaire and Preliminary Financial Information Form.  A clear understanding of your goals will help us find the best franchise opportunities for you. 

Step 3 – Research Franchises

Our consultants will use the information provided by you to research available franchises and match them with your stated goals and needs.  

Step 4 - Consultation

Our consultants will identify the best franchise opportunities and present them to you.  If any of the opportunities are of interest to you, qualifying forms will be submitted to the Franchisor.  The Franchisor wants to know that you are financially qualified to purchase their franchise, that your timeframe to buy is within reasonable limits, and that your partners or family are in complete agreement with you buying a business.  This does not obligate you in any way. 

Step 5 – Introduction to the Franchisor

For each of the opportunities in which both you and the franchisor have an interest, we will introduce you directly to the Franchisor.  Most franchise representative will send you materials to look over and become better acquainted with the franchise.  They will send you the Uniform Franchise Offering Circular (UFOC) or disclosure document for their franchise opportunity containing all the information about the franchise.    

Step 6 – Review of the UFOC

The next step will be for you to review the franchise’s UFOC or disclosure document in complete detail.  Reviewing and understanding the UFOC is a very important part of the process. 

Step 7 – Contact Franchisees

The Franchisor should provide you with a list of several franchisees for you to call to ask questions about the franchise.  Interviewing the franchisees will be the best source of information on any franchise company.

Step 8 – Contact Your Financial and Legal Consultants

You should conduct a complete and thorough investigation of any franchise opportunity that you feel may be right for you. It is important that you consult with an attorney and an accountant before making a decision, and it is important that these parties have a good background in franchising.

Step 9 – Discovery Day

Once you are satisfied with your choice and have answered all the questions, many franchisors invite you for Discovery Day.  Discovery Day is an invitation for an on-site meeting with the franchisor.  This is an important event; an opportunity to obtain information and meet with the corporate support team.

Step 10 – Decision Time

At this point you have completed your homework and obtained all the necessary information to determine if this franchise is right for you.  It is time for the last step – DECISION TIME!
